25th Reunion Recap

REUNION RECAP

The Tecumseh High School Class of 1988 held their 25th high school reunion on July 20th, 2013 at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Dayton, Ohio. About 75 classmates and their guests dined, danced, and chatted the night away.

Classmate Sharon Roberson and her fiancé Bryan were our fantastic DJs for the evening, Paul Dean and Renee Ellis were the event photographers, and favorite teacher Drew Gross was our Guest of Honor.

The reunion planning committee comprised of Jennifer Lawler, Fre-Leigh Lyons, Julie Collier, Chrissy Knecht, Renee Ellis, Michele McCray, and of course David Blakely who entertained us for months with his unforgettable videos to build excitement for the big night.

The ballroom was decorated in record time and looked absolutely amazing with the handmade creations by Julie and Fre-Leigh. A Memory Tree was created to honor those classmates and faculty who have passed. The photo booth in the corner served up huge laughs as classmates used silly props, hats, and signs advertising various high school activities. Who knew a bunch of 40+ year olds would have so much fun with feather boas, a Viking hat, and a marching band sign?

Of special interest was Memory Lane -- two tables that converged into one representing Olive Branch and New Carlisle Middle joining together at Tecumseh High School. Funny after all of these years that OB/NC rivalry is still alive and well! Yearbooks, sports uniforms, and especially a stack of past Arrowhead newspapers brought by David Sykes helped bring everyone back in time to the 1980s.

Many coozies were sold to help offset expenses and threats were made that those extra coozies would be seen again at future reunions with the 25 crossed out. We have to get rid of them somehow! (They can still be purchased if you want one!)

At the end of the evening the world's longest door prize raffle was held in which everyone got something -- the giant balls were the hottest thing going, but we did manage to award a few coozies as well. The great part was that everyone who stayed until the end pitched in and helped clean up the room! A huge thank you to you all! Especially Paul Taynor who was tall enough that we didn't need to haul the ladder back out to take things down! After the mass clean up a few daring souls who were up way past their bedtime continued the party in the hotel bar until the wee hours.

All in all it was a terrific night. Please take a look at our photos and plan to come to the 30th!
